The Upper Hall

The Upper Hall is reserved for the exposition telling about diversity of birds and mammals. Almost all of the objects of this exhibition are stuffed skins, skillfully made by the best Russian taxidermists at the end of 19th and throughout 20th centuries. Most of the exhibits are arranged in accordance with the systematic position of respective species. Only a small number of stuffed animals are mounted in the so called “biogroups”, most of which are located along the central line of the Hall. Part of the bird exhibition includes several thematic showcases, which are “Bird market”, “Hunting with birds of prey”, "Birds of the Moscow Region”. The sections dedicated, respectively, to the birds and to the mammals are preceded by storefronts with general characteristic of these groups.
