Prokofiy Akinfovich Demidoff (1710–1788)
Prokofiy A. Demidoff was educated person, a noticed patron of arts
and natural sciences. He was in correspondence with C. Linnaeus,
established first Botanical garden in Moscow, contributed to Nikita
A. Demidoff's natural history collection which became a "precursor"
of the Cabinet of Natural History of Moscow University. He also
donated his own herbarium to the University (burned in 1812) and
supported poor students at the University.
