Vyacheslav Vasiliyevich Nemtsev (1917—2002)
V.V. Nemtsev was professional ornithologist graduated from Fur Institute
in 1941. He participated in the 2d World War and after that returned
to the Fur Institute but left it in 1948 for Darwinian Reserve to
become recognized specialist on the waterfowl and some forest birds.
However, Nemtsev was also a great amateur of butterflies and gathered
an excellent collection of native lepidopterans added with some
remarkable specimens from tropics of Africa and SE Asia. He willed
his collection to this Museum.
