Graduated as zoologist from Moscow University in
1937 and then became specialized as ichthyologist in the Lab of
Vertebrate Morphology. Participated in the 2d World War since its
beginning up to the end. Returned back to the University, participated
in organization of Ichthyology Department of Biological Faculty
(1947) wher he was working all the remaining times. DrS since 1965,
Professor of Zoology since 1967, Chair of the above Department since
1977. Served as director of the Museum in 1960-1963. He read lectures,
published several monographs on biology of fishes. Participated
in a lot of expeditions materials of which are kept in the Museum.
