Collection of the type specimens of Division of Entomology contains representatives of about 4.000 species. All the nomenclatorial types are kept separately from the rest of the collection stock. Two memorial collections, of V.I. Mochulsky and of A.P. Fedchenko, are most rich in the types.
The type collection was significantly enlarged due to most recent taxonomic studies of the Division members.

The type specimens of butterflies obtained from A.P. Fedchenko's expedition to Turkestan and described by Russian entomologist N.G. Ershov.
