Type collection

Collection of types upon which descriptions of new species and subspecies were based includes more than 350 specimens. It is stored separately from other parts of the collection stock. There are special marks on the specimen labels and the cards of systematic catalogue indicating their nomenclatorial status. Besides, the data on the specimens proper together with information on their descriptions and subsequent investigations are fixed on special type cards. A computer data base of type specimens was created, and all relevant information was published in the Catalogue of vertebrate types in 2001.
