Collection of the Division of Herpetology includes about 15.000 items. Its predominating part consists of amphibians and reptiles from territory of the former USSR and to lesser number from other countries. Osteological collection consists of 1.500 specimens of amphibians and 200 specimens of reptiles.

Collection of preparations for DNA analyses was started recently and now includes about 80 specimens.

Collection of type specimens includes 139 specimens belonging to 36 taxa.

Dr. E. A. Dunaev is curator of amphibians.

Dr V.F. Orlova is Curator in Charge and curator of reptiles.
