Division of Invertebrate Zoology, like all
other research divisions of the Museum, was established in 1932.
Its main task is acquisition, storage and treatment of the museum
materials on invertebrates (except insects). Respectively, the researches
conducted by members of the Division involve taxonomy, anatomy,
phylogeny and geography of certain representatives of this most
diverse group of organisms, mainly non-insect arthropods and mollusks.
More than half of the invertebrate phyla are represented in the
collection of the Division, though with various degree of completeness.
The Division is situated on the ground floor
of the Museum building. Mollusk collections are stored in the central
part of the building, and the remaining parts are located in its
right wing behind the Lower Hall.
When planning to come to the Division, a visitor is requested to
get an approval of respective curator. The contact phones are: 629-48-42
(mollusks), 629-59-82 (ticks), 692-44-25 (other
groups).
