Research interests are in taxonomy and variation
of the fresh water fishes of the families Cobitidae, Gobiidae,
Cyprinidae and several others. Most recent projects involve
variation and inheritance of morphological characters in unisexual
reproduction, morphological divergence of close diploid and
polyploid spceies, and origin of polyploids in Cobitidae, Acipenseridae.
Participated in the field works in European
part of Russia, Caucasus, Kamchatka.
