Research interests are in variation, taxonomy,
phylogeny and zoogeography of the lizards of the family Lacertidae
(mainly genera Lacerta and Eremias) and anuran
amphibians (Rana, Bufo). Published about 85 papers
and several books. Participated in expeditions to Caucasus,
Middle Asia, Mongolia.
