    Sector of Entomology

    This Sector was established in 1932. Its staff includes specialists engaged in the study of insects. The main task of the Sector is to gather, store, and study entomological collections. All its members are specialists in various insect groups, and they curate these and close groups. They conduct research mainly on the taxonomy, fauna, and zoogeography of these groups.

    There are about 4 million mounted insect specimens stored in the Sector, including type specimens of more than 5,000 species.

    The Sector is located on the second floor of the Museum. The collections of butterflies and beetles are located in the part of the Museum building of along Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, in room 51 (passage through the Upper Hall).
