Personified Museum
The Zoological Museum of Moscow University has a long and distinguished history — for more than two and a quarter centuries it has served the advancement of science and education. For much of this time, it has been (and we hope continues to remain) one of the key centers of the country’s scientific and cultural life.
Over this period, the museum has been closely associated with many individuals: those who worked here, those who enriched its collections, and those who, through their efforts or donations, contributed to its growth and prosperity.
All of them deserve our memory and respect!
The first attempt to compile a list of such individuals was undertaken by G.Yu. Lyubarsky (Lyubarsky, 2009).
Since then, the list has been substantially revised and expanded. It now includes research staff, technical and support personnel, major collectors, patrons, and benefactors. The lists were compiled using archival documents, published sources, and the recollections of the museum’s veterans.
Naturally, we do not exclude the possibility that the list is still incomplete, and that certain inaccuracies or discrepancies remain. We therefore welcome the assistance of all interested parties.
