This is a new page, where we suppose to keep the information from "Web site news" and "Public events", which is no longer news. 'History' contains information which is half a year old when it will be transferred here from the main page, and further on a year since the event took place.

WEB SITE HISTORY

21.06.13 — In connection with publishing of the IInd (revised and supplemented) edifion of the "Bats of Vietnam. Checklist and an identification manual" (Moscow, ÊÌÊ scientific press, 2013), the taxonomic list of Vietnamese bats on our site was renovated.
17.06.13 — Photos from Sergei Kruskop recent bat searching trip to the Lipesk region were added to the gallery of our tours.
07.06.13 — Images of skull of the steppe Myotis, common long-eared bat and Blyth's horseshoe bat wee added to the gallery of bat skulls.
11.03.13 — Some photos from the field research trip of Alona Gukasova et al. to the "Smolenskoye Poozer'ye" National Park were added to our tours gallery.
31.01.13 — New article by Matia Orlova and Aneta Zapart about ectoparasites of pipistrelles and pond bats in Poland was added to the "Library". Updates were made in some personal pages.
07.12.12 — Dear colleagues, bad new came from Saint-Petersburg.
Dr. Petr Strelkov - well-known scientist, recognized leader of the Russian chiropterology, very talented man - have gone this morning.
The whole Russian Bat Research Group expresses its heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives and friends.

04.10.12 — New, 14th issue of the Russian bat research journal, Plecotus et al. has been already published. We are waiting for pdfs.
21.06.12 — Photos from Sergei Kruskop recent bat searching trip to the Lipesk region were added to the gallery of our tours.
17.01.12 — Pdfs and abstracts of two articles by Alona Gukasova et al. were added to our Library; articles are observing fauna and bat assembledge in "Smolenskoye Poozeriye" National Park and the effectiveness of mist-netting of bat. Materials were courtesly provided by Alona herself.
27.12.11 — Two new additions into our library: abstract of D. Smirnov and V. Veknik article about present distribution of Pipistrellus kuhlii in the Volga region; and reference to open access article of I. Kuzmin et al. about bats, emerging infectious diseases.
05.12.11 — Well, we had a long repair works in our building. Finally I have got access to our server and may arrange some news. English versions of two articles by A.Panyutina et al., devoted kinematics of bat flight and wing shape in Rhinolophoidea are added to the Library by permission of the primary author.
29.06.11 — Photos from Sergei Kruskop and Elena Sitnikova recent trip to Bryansk region were added to the gallery of our tours.
01.06.11 — New, 13th issue of the Russian bat research journal, Plecotus et al., containing materials of the Penza All-Russian bat conference, has been already published. We are waiting for pdfs.
07.02.11 — IX Congress of the All-Russian Theriological Society took place on Biological faculty of Moscow State University on February, 1-4. Short communication about the congress in Russian you can find HERE.
21.09.10 — Personal profile of Anton Vlaschenko, our Ukrainian colleague, was added. Photos of the Siberian long-eared bat and eastern water bat from Altai, kindly provided by Elena Sitnikova, were added to the Gallery of Russian bats.
14.09.10 — Colleagues who can read Russian, could be interested in famous A.P. Kuzyakin's monograph "Bats" ("Letuchie myshi"), M., 1950, which is now available for download on site Library due to courtesy of Alyona Gukasova.

16.03.09 — Since its almost impossible to make photograph of the Japanese pipistrelle, Pipistrellus abramus, in Russia, photos of this species made in Northern Vietnam were added to the gallery of Russian bats; also photo of the turanian serotine by the kind authority of V.N. Moskalenko was added to the same gallery, and my photo of the yellow house bat, Scotophilus sp. was added to the gallery of tropical bats.

Also, new article is available concerning first record of Miocene bat in Russia.
09.08.06 — New photos of Murina ussuriensis, Pipistrellus pygmaeus, Hypsugo savii and Tadarida teniotis were added to the gallery of the Russian bats.
20.09.05 — Some corrections were made in "Russian bats"; the account of Myotis petax now available, as well as the paper by Matveev at al. about status of this form.
14.06.05 — New photos from the expedition to Semien Mountain National Park (Ethiopia) were added to the gallery of our tours; the gallery itself have been devided into two pages.

13.01.05 — the web-site was exposed to some transformations: now it have got new initial page. First personalia in English have appeared, together with some minor corrections of the English version.
30.11.04 — we are happy to inform you, that our website was included into the Natural Selection, a subject-specific gateway to the quality Internet resources devoted to the natural world.
04.11.04 — maps of bat distribution were renewed in the guide to the Russian bats; some accounts were added to both Russian and English versions of the same section. The article about status of Myotis abei (Tsytsulina, 2004) was added to the library.
09.08.04 — some new photos were added to the galleries of Our tours and of Russian bats.
14.04.04 — updated version of the National report, compiled by Vitaliy Matveev, have been added to the "Research. Protection" page.

25.03.04 — abstract (in Russian and English) of Hoofer & Van Den Bussche paper, devoted to Molecular phylogenetics of Vespertilionidae, was added.

01.03.04 — six photos from earlier expeditions to Nepal and Vietnam were added to the gallery of our tours.
27.02.04 — eight new photos were added to the gallery 'Our Tours'.
17.02.04 — the page "Scientific papers on bats" is also available in English (including only papers originally published in English); two new papers were provided by Suren Gazaryan: studies on bat lissaviruses in Russia (Botvinkin et al. 2003), and new records of Barbastella barbastellus in Caucasus (Gazaryan 2003).
26.01.04 — the new section "News and events Archive" was added, where we plan to deposit out-dated information from this page.
08.01.04 — the first translated pages of the 'Russian bat guide' are available. More photos were added to the gallery of Russian bats, kindly donated by Dr. I. Kuzmin.

25.12.03 — the abstract of the paper by F. Spitzenberger et al., devoted to the taxonomic status of Plecotus macrobullaris and its distribution in Caucasus, was added to the "Library".

PUBLIC EVENTS

Conference "Molecular and Genetic grounds for biodiversity of Holarctic mammals preservation" took place in Chernogolovka (nearby Moscow) on November, 26-29, 2007. Bat research was represented there by the presentation "Using of DNA barcodes to recover phylogeographical splits among east Palaearctic bats" (S.Kruskop et al.)

International conference "Systematics, Phylogeny and Paleontology of Small Mammals", devoted to the 90th anniversary of Prof. I. M. Gromov, was held on November, 24-27, 2003, in Zoological Institute of RAS (St. Petersburg). The Conference programm includes, amongst others, six communications related to bats. Proceedings of the Conference were already published by Zoological Institute.

The VII-th congress of the All-Russian theriological society was successfully held on February, 6-7, 2003, in the main building of the Severtzov Institute of Ecology and Evolution in Moscow. About 500 people from Russia and most countries of the former USSR submitted their abstracts, and more than 250 delegates visited the meeting personally. As for the bats, only 20 communications on this group were represented, mainly due to relatively recent holding of the specialized Bat conference (VIII All-Russian Bat Research Conference).

8th AII-RUSSIAN BAT RESEARCH CONFERENCE was successfully held on November, 2-4, 2002, in Zhiguli Nature Reserve (Middle Volga, Samarskaya region). Any questions about the meeting, and also any information must be addressed to Dr. E. Kozhurina
